Virtual Datacenters

True Multi-Tenancy on Shared Infrastructure. A logical isolation layer that carves your Proxmox infrastructure into independent tenant environments — each with their own resources, networks, and access boundaries.

Proxmox has no native concept of tenants. Serving multiple customers or departments from shared infrastructure requires manual configuration of permissions, networks, and resource limits — with constant vigilance to prevent cross-tenant access or resource contention.

Complete isolation on shared hardware

Virtual Datacenters provide a complete isolation boundary within your Proxmox infrastructure. Each tenant gets their own environment with guaranteed resources, private networking, and independent management — while you operate a single shared platform.

Capabilities

Hard Resource Quotas

Allocate specific amounts of vCPU and RAM to each tenant. Quotas are enforced by the platform — no tenant can exceed their allocation.

Isolated Networking

Each tenant gets private network segments using VxLAN or Proxmox SDN. Tenant traffic is completely separated at the network layer.

Tenant-Specific Resources

Optionally provide dedicated VM templates and ISO libraries per tenant. Tenants see only what's relevant to them.

Independent User Management

Each virtual datacenter has its own users, roles, and permissions. Tenant admins manage their own users without affecting others.

Usage Reporting and Audit

Track resource consumption and activity per tenant. Support billing, chargeback, and compliance requirements.
